Please share this!!!!! As you resident vitiligan and fellow artist I am here to educate people on how to properly create a character with vitiligo and other things to keep in mind about the disorder.

Only 1% of the entire world’s population has vitiligo but I see so many artists making characters with it when they sometimes don’t even know what vitiligo is and pass it off as “skin pigmentation”. Like— what does that even mean??? XD

It’s not an aesthetic and it won’t get you “diversity points” so stop romanticizing vitiligo!

kurowrites

Honestly very happy to see this, especially the part that emphasises that skin tone has nothing to do with the likeliness of developing vitiligo. You can be as white as snow and have it.

ok apologies but i’ve seen this on my dash multiple times today and i gotta jump in and say that vitiligo is not necessarily caused by trauma the way OP is framing it. sometimes the thing that trips a latent autoimmune disease is just, like, a fever. or like overworking yourself. or encountering some new allergen. or pregnancy.

…not necessarily big-T Trauma.

and it’s very genetic. so.

mennany

I have two characters with vitiligo, so this is very useful to know. I’ll try to be more careful and do more research in the future when drawing them, and also when making other characters that have conditions and experiences I don’t

this is why research is important art guide

Sounds like most Chihuahuas and I would bet a prior Chihuahua owner would take him.

I didn’t think the picture could do him justice after that description but it absolutely does and I for one am delighted

His Instagram is @prancerthechihuahua if anyone would like further updates on this little demon Bologna Face.

Here are some recent updates for those without IG:

-Prancer is very happy with his human Mom and has begrudgingly allowed some men in his presence!

-Prancer was formally recognized by the mayor of New Haven on National dog day this past year!

-Prancer can make public appearances sometimes, because he has a mom who loves and supports him.

-He’s come back to New Jersey a few times to see his old neighborhood and in his life as an adopted good boy, Prancer has discovered fashion!

Muslim brothers and sisters

So I found this app called Scan Halal where you scan the bar code of your food and it tells you if its halal or not. It’s a free app too. Pass this on so others can see and worry a little less about their food/snack choices

feelslikeblue

Yessss, it is very handy especially in non-muslim countries

If you reblog this for no other reason, do it because it’ll piss off Pauline Hanson. And pissing off Pauline Hanson is reason enough to do anything.

totalsillyfilly

Pissing off Pauline Hanson is my favourite pass time

sockknitteranon

If you reblog this for no other reason, reblog it to make a Muslim feel safer, more accepted, and/or more informed about food.

Other people and their needs are not your game pieces to use to offend others or make yourself feel better.

This is actually a cool app! I had a customer come into my candy store and we discovered that certain flavors of the same brand of candy sticks were okay to eat! It was really handy for them to be able to scan it rather than rely on the ingredient list, which could be flawed sometimes!

basinke

Ooooh this is neat!

elfwreck

Nice!

For those wondering “why don’t you just read the ingredients”: Even if you trust the ingredient list, you don’t know which “natural flavors” were used, and you may not know where the various chemicals came from. And a lot of people have a hard time reading tiny print, and don’t want to stand in the aisle for five minutes trying to work their way through 95 words of 4-point type.

So glad this exists! We need more ways for people to find the info that’s important to them!

I’m rebloging cause making people’s lives easier when it comes to food is always good, but also to highlight this comment here above me. Take this and instead of the inconvenience of it not fitting your religious or weight loss needs, that instead the unknown source of things could kill you. That is the reality for a lot of people. Specially those who’s allergies aren’t in the top 8. It’s left out, hidden, deemed unimportant. And we are left to read through it, translate it and sometimes call companies to ask questions and still not be given correct answers or answers at all. So any of these apps should be spread like wild fire. Even though this app is for halal, it can also save the life of someone allergic to pork.
